Jeff Clearwater  
Founder & Senior Design Engineer

Jeff Clearwater has enjoyed a 29 year career in the renewable energy field as advocate, consultant, designer, engineer and contractor. Jeff received a B.S. degree in Solar Engineering in 1979 and has owned 6 renewable energy businesses and has served on the Board of 7 energy related non-profits.

Jeff has provided consulting, design and installation of solar, wind, microhydro, integrated systems, and electric vehicles for businesses, governments and organizations all over the world from North America to Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico.  Jeff consulted with  the Governments of Nepal and Sri  Lanka on their renewable energy plans, was instrumental in the U.S. electric vehicle movement,  and helped bring the electric taxi to Nepal where now hundreds roam the streets.  He has taught over 400 educators and govt. officials in whole systems design through the United Nation's CIFAL sustainability training program. Jeff helped found the Ecovillage Network of the Americas serving as Council member and renewable energy consultant.

Jeff was one of the first NABCEP certified Solar PV Installers nationally, the first in Massachusetts and maintains that certification today.  Jeff has installed or managed over 650 KWs of solar PV installations. Jeff is also a licensed C-46 Solar Contractor in California. Jeff's real love is working and playing in community and working  toward a peaceful, ecologically sustainable, and culturally creative world.


  Will Stark

Will Stark has been with NorthEast Solar since 1998 as the lead installation supervisor.  He received a B.S. of Earth System Science from UMASS with Honors.  Will's construction experience is vast and varied.  He has 19 years of experience in all phases of construction including 6 years as a professional roofer. Will is a master home builder and well versed in greenhouse systems, sustainable community power systems, commercial construction,  & green building techniques.

Will is also
 a world traveler and international volunteer leader with fair trade cooperatives building high efficiency wood fired ovens.   Working for NorthEast Solar is one part of his comittment to moving humanity towards a sustainable future.  His free time finds him building kayaks or rock climbing. 



Kemper Carlsen
Office Manager, Administrative Assistant 

Kemper Carlsen joined the NorthEast Solar team in the Fall of 2007.  A graduate of SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a Biology degree, Kemper went on to endangered species management, restoration biology, and environmental & sustainable living education.  Kemper feels that her work in the renewable energy industry is a natural progression toward supporting others in making intelligent choices around consumption and energy use. Her understanding is that the main driving force behind habitat loss and environmental degradation is human impact.  Kemper also enjoys hiking, birding and growing with her husband and son.



Matt La Salle
Design Engineer, Office Systems

Matt La Salle is thrilled to be the newest addition the NorthEast Solar team.  He earned his B.S. n Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester in June, 2000.  He has since enjoyed a varied career, ranging from facilities maintenance to theatrical stage design and interior design consulting.  He also ran his own private subcontractor business for two years.  His main professional focus is on design - mechanical and structural as well as in personnel and information management systems.

He is recently engaged to be married and enjoys spending time at home with his fiance' and two cats.  He spent the last seven years in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, and is very excited to relocate to the Pioneer Valley to support the NorthEast Solar's growth and expansion.

Matt's hobbies include skiing, travel, music, film and stage performance.  He also makes found-object art and practices the drums in his spare time.
              
Justin Manocchia
PV Installation Tech,  Shop Foreman

Justin has been with NorthEast Solar since April 2008. His life long pursuit of practical hands-on skills has lead him to explore building, design, art, and computers. Justin's desire to work in the sustainable development field lead him to PV technology where he is excited to expand his skills.

Justin's diverse tool box also includes a strong focus on the inner landscape and healing through breath, movement, and diet.

As a multi faceted creator and artist, with a varied background in many practical projects, he loves exploring hands-on tasks that enable him to strengthen his mechanical application skills, especially by helping the expansion of sustainable technologies.
